Session Week 9: $89 Billion Budget Deal Reached


The Legislature’s negotiations over the budget continued past the deadline this week, forcing an extension until Sunday. Lawmakers will vote on the budget package on Sunday.

$89 Billion Budget Package Delivered; Local Government Bills Stalled

The budget package included additional funding for Clay Ford Scholarships, as well as appropriations to continue the state’s enforcement of professional licensing regulations.

Financial Literacy, Local Government Bills Run Out of Time

Legislation that would require Florida high schoolers to pass a financial literacy course to graduate stalled in the Legislature once again, and likely won’t be passed by Sunday. Provisions that would require new financial reporting standards for local governments met a similar fate.
